I was surprised to find out that this “fake me” was apparently trying to turn this into a long career writing articles as me. I thought this was just one article, but after doing some more googling, I found out that it was his second one on that site. Well, no harm done, and this was definitely an (insanely) interesting experience.

@Pekka: Actually, I didn’t ask, but there was talks about the possibility of me writing on the site. Right now, I’ll have to pass, but who knows, maybe Jarkko Laine will return to that blog some day :)

@Lynoure: Thanks for the compliment! And I never thought of googling the title of the article! Good catch :) Those others were probably the normal aggregation and scraping content from bigger sites that happens all the time… But still interesting to see how far and how quickly things like this (just like anything, I suppose) can spread on the web.

You are missing the fascinating bit: they probably thought you were interesting. Being insanely interested in everything makes one quite interesting. Rephrasing the Pet Shop Boys: “We were never being boring because we were never bored.”

I got curious about the article, and googled the name, and your name, and found it on quite many websites, not just on one. If you do the same googling, you can find the residual posts (maybe there through aggregation).

On the other hand though, as misunderstandings tend to happen easily, it was probably a good move to expose the truth. You never know what will happen to a lie that survives too long.

Creeps me out, the fake-jarkko had sure read his homeworks about You. Still it’s weird to pick a “random” name from internet to write an quite long article on a website.

Like i said. It creeps me out.
